TYPO3 versions at a glance

Currently, new TYPO3 versions are released about every 18 months. The current versions 11.5 and 10.4 offer technical support as LTS (Long Term Support) for at least 36 months each. An extension of the support (Extended Long Term Support, ELTS) for 12, 24 or 36 months is also possible. This means that you can use a TYPO3 version for up to 6 years without relaunching the website.

Which version to use?

The version 11.5.33 is the current, stable version. Anyone creating a new project should use this one. However, not all extensions are available for version ###typo3version## yet. In the next months the most important extensions will be updated.

Version 10.4 is also a current TYPO3 version, updates and support are available until March 2023 (with ELTS Service until March 2027)

Version 9.5 has been updated until the end of September 2021 (with ELTS Service there are still updates and support until the end of September 2024).

For version 8.7 the free Long-Term-Support (LTS) expired at the end of March 2020, if required theExtended Long Term Support (ELTS) until end of March 2023 can be booked.

LTS version 7.6, released in November 2015, received updates for security vulnerabilities and bugs until the end of November 2018. Through Booking of the ELTS Service at TYPO3 GmbHusers can secure updates and support until November 2022.

For version 6.2 we have offered the extended support until the end of March 2020.

The support of a TYPO3 version for up to six years protects the investment in your website. Usually a simple update of the TYPO3 source code is sufficient. We usually perform this automatically for projects hosted with us. Customers are informed by e-mail before an update is installed.

Which TYPO3, PHP and MySQL versions fit together?

Every TYPO3 version needs a matching PHP and MySQL version. Especially with older projects it is sometimes difficult to find the matching information. Here we have summarized the versions in an overview:
