Search engine optimization for TYPO3

Extension Key: tq_seo

Please note

The development of tq_seo has unfortunately been discontinued in the meantime. There is still the direct successor extension metaseo from the same developer, but this has not been developed any further for some time and is no longer available for TYPO3 9 or newer.

In TYPO3 9, however, many functions are now covered by TYPO3 standard tools. You could use cs_seo or yoast_seo as additional extensions. Please refer to the documentation of the respective extension to find out whether it is suitable or necessary for you.

Introduction

TYPO3 already comes with a lot of features to enable the so-called on-page optimization of a website, but with the help of the tq_seo extension, the whole thing can be done much more easily and effectively. The extension also comes with a number of features to make it easier to work with Google Analytics or Webmaster Tools, for example.

In the following videos, we will show you how to install and use tq_seo.

Note from September 2014:

The tq_seo extension is probably no longer being developed. Its direct successor is the metaseo extension, which currently has the same range of functions. Please use metaseo for new installations.

Installation

The following video shows you how to install and configure the tq_seo extension.

New fields in the page properties

tq_seo adds a few new fields to the page properties of a page, which can be used to carry out part of the on-page optimization of the page more effectively.

The backend modules

tq_seo comes with three new backend modules that can be used to control and customize the settings.

TYPO3 4.7.7 and tq_seo 5.0.0 are used in this video. Since the backend module in TYPO3 6.0.0 is identical, a separate video has been omitted.

Important: For the "Control Center" module to work properly, the "Use as start of website" option must be checked for the root page of each page tree in the "Behavior" tab of the page properties!

New tasks in the task planner (scheduler)

tq_seo brings a range of new tasks for the task planner (scheduler). This also allows you to create a static sitemap.xml, which can then be used in Google Webmaster Tools, for example.

TYPO3 4.7.7 and tq_seo 5.0.0 are used in this video. Since the backend module in TYPO3 6.x is identical, a separate video has been omitted.

Please note:
In the current version 5.0.1 of tq_seo (as of 6.11.2013) there is unfortunately an error in the generation of XML sitemaps via the scheduler. However, you can also use the dynamically generated XML sitemap, including for Google Webmaster Tools. Call this up as follows:
