Powermail video tutorials

Extension Key: powermail

Introduction

The Powermail extension can be used to create simple contact forms as well as complex, multi-page forms. With the frontend output introduced in version 2, the data entered via the form can also be displayed again and thus, for example, simple guest books or similar can be realized.

The videos here show you how to install and configure Powermail. You will also see a few examples of use.

Powermail 2.1.7 and TYPO3 6.2.6 are used.

Installation & configuration

A simple contact form

Normal contact forms are a standard application of Powermail. In the following video you can see how you can create a simple form with just a few clicks.

Multipage forms

Powermail also offers the option of distributing a form over several pages. This makes it possible to create extensive surveys and present them to the user in a pleasant way.

Front-end output

Since version 2 of Powermail, it has also been possible to display the data entered in the form in the front end. This can be used, for example, to implement simple guest books or similar applications.

The backend module

In the Powermail backend module, you can see all the data entered in the form. It is also possible to export this data as an Excel or CSV file.

Adapt the output to your own layout

Although Powermail comes with a demo CSS file, a major adjustment is usually necessary to adapt the output of Powermail to the layout of your own site.

The following video shows you a simple and update-proof way to use your own CSS instructions.

Multilingual forms

In this video you can see how you can also use Powermail forms in multilingual pages.

Update from Powermail 1.6.x to 2.1.x

In this video, we show you how to convert old Powermail 1.6.x forms to the new 2.1.x version.

There are a few points to note when updating from Powermail 1.6 to 2.1:

  • After the Powermail update in the Extension Manager, the cache should be deleted manually, with the command rm -rf typo3temp/Cache/, on the shell.
  • Perform a database compare using the install tool. Create new Powermail fields, but never delete old fields! Otherwise all old forms will be lost and can of course no longer be converted.
  • For the form converter to work correctly, the Powermail static template (main) must be included in the root template.
