As a successful company, we are aware of our social responsibility. We therefore support a large number of projects with financial and material donations.

Since 2019, we have been supporting the One Dollar Glasses project with an annual donation of 1,000 euros

Around 150 million people worldwide need glasses - but cannot afford them.

Martin Aufmuth from Erlangen has set himself the goal of changing this with his association. He has developed a pair of glasses that cost around one dollar to make. He has also set up a mini workshop with a bending machine so that the glasses can be produced locally in poor countries. The machine requires no electricity, so it can be used anywhere.

The aim is to train local people who can make and fit the glasses. These small entrepreneurs then sell the glasses at 2 to 3 local daily rates so that everyone can afford them.

A pair of one-dollar glasses can make a lasting difference to the lives of local people: from school to work, where good eyesight is essential.

From 2015 to 2019, we made an annual donation of €1,000 to help put an end to the genital mutilation of girls.

Every day, 8,000 girls are robbed of their genitals and thus their dignity. One every eleven seconds. Worldwide, 150 million women are affected.

The association TARGET by Rüdiger Nehberg is campaigning against the crime of genital mutilation in the places where it occurs, primarily in Ethiopia. One of TARGET's aims is to put an end to this bloody practice. This is achieved by educating the various villages and tribes. This is because female genital mutilation is often incorrectly justified on the basis of holy scriptures and religious duty.

Emergency telephone Björn Steiger Foundation

Sponsorship for an emergency telephone

jweiland.net has once again taken over the sponsorship of the Björn Steiger Foundation's emergency call point 1069 at the B27 Filderstadt exit for one year.

Of course, there are still people without cell phones and areas with poor mobile phone reception. This means that emergency telephones are still justified, but they cost money. We are delighted to be able to sponsor one of these emergency telephones from the Björn Steiger Foundation for a third year.

Founded in 1969 as a non-profit organization, the Björn Steiger Foundation is committed to the development of German emergency aid. Two of the many initiatives developed and supported are the nationwide free 110/112 emergency number and the well-known emergency telephones on federal, state and district roads. The foundation has been committed to their expansion and maintenance since 1971. Over 35,000 km, 7500 emergency call points have been set up nationwide, making the Björn Steiger Foundation the largest non-profit emergency call provider in Europe.

Although the emergency call boxes are no longer used as frequently due to the widespread use of cell phones, what happens if the battery runs out or you forget your cell phone? According to the German Insurance Association (GDV), the emergency call center received 64,500 calls in 2014, which corresponds to a utilization rate of 78%. We have therefore been supporting the life-saving service of the 1069 emergency call center with our sponsorship since March 2016.

Christmas campaign 2016 to 2019

From 2016 to 2019, we supported the "Christmas Star" campaign for socially disadvantaged families in Filderstadt. In each case, 40 children received a gift for Christmas.

We have been happy to support various campaigns over the last few years. But unfortunately, success is often difficult to see and so we wanted to be able to follow a good cause in the longer term and also personally.
That's why we started our own project over a year ago:
Computers for socially disadvantaged children in Romania.

Christmas campaign 2012

Once again this year, we decided not to send out Christmas cards and donated the amount saved to a social institution.

The donation went to Haus Leuchtfeuer in Flensburg, which we had already supported in the summer.

Haus Leuchtfeuer was founded by Felix and Melanie Oertel. As a meeting place for mothers of children aged 0-5, it offers a parents' café and a clothing store.

We know Felix Oertel as head of the TYPO3 Extbase team, so we are sure that the help is going to the right place.

Christmas 2011 fundraising campaigns

Solar lamps replace harmful and dangerous kerosene lamps and improve living conditions in villages without electricity

At the end of each year, it's time to say thank you to customers and friends, wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

As an Internet service provider, we choose the electronic way to do this: with our Advent calendar with TYPO3 and other delicious recipes and by e-mail.

We have deliberately decided not to give gifts to our customers and partners and would instead like to make a donation to people in need to make them happy at Christmas.

At Christmas 2011, our donation via betterplace.org will go to the Yirabah - Gambia Hilfe e.V. association from Filderstadt. The solar lamps will significantly and sustainably improve the quality of life and educational opportunities of 30 families.

Medical aid for earthquake victims in Haiti

In view of the catastrophic situation of the earthquake victims in Haiti, we supported the medeor campaign with our donation in January. With our donation, 100 dressing packages with a total of 10,000 gauze bandages, 10,000 compresses and 1,000 rolls of plaster can be delivered to Haiti. Further information...
