Climate-neutral data center
The data center we use in Germany has been certified as climate-neutral since March 2008. Here, too, theCO2 emissions caused are fully offset.
By choosing jweiland.net as your hosting provider, you can therefore be sure that no additional greenhouse gases are generated by the operation of the website.
Environmental protection is an important issue for us. That is why we have joined ClimatePartneras a climate-neutral company since 2011.
To this end, ourCO2 "footprint", the totalCO2 emissions generated by our business activities, is calculated annually. The calculation includes electricity and water consumption, employee travel to the office, our company vehicles, all travel and paper consumption.
CO2 emissions of 31,716 kg were calculated for 2016, a decrease of a good 3% compared to the previous year. This was achieved by replacing a diesel vehicle with an electric car and using LED lighting in the office, among other things.
Although the number of employees, customers and turnover has increased significantly since 2011, we have been able to reduceCO2 emissions overall by taking appropriate measures.
In order for our company to be climate-neutral, this amount must be saved elsewhere. We achieve this by purchasing ecologically high-quality emission reduction certificates. These are used to finance climate protection projects, such as electricity generation from hydropower or reforestation (CO2 storage).
As the greenhouse effect is determined by the global amount ofCO2, it does not matter where the savings are made geographically.
For 2016, we reduced ourCO2 emissions by supporting the project wind power in Kalandoger, India compensated.
Further measures
In general, we strive not only to offset emissions but also to reduce them overall.
Energy-saving computers and screens at the workplace, efficient vehicles and, since April 1, 2013, the elimination of invoices sent by post all contribute to this.
Compared to 2011, emissions from heating, vehicle fleet and electricity were reduced by 3,463 kg.
The figures for 2017 (and the renewal of certification) will be published in fall 2018 - as soon as we have the utility bill as a basis for the calculation.
