Set up e-mail accounts in Apple Mail

How to use your jweiland.net e-mail account with Apple Mail under macOS Sierra (10.12).

1) Open Apple Mail.

2) Click on Mail at the top left and then on Settings

3) Switch to the Accounts tab.

4) Click on the + symbol at the bottom left.

5) You then select Other mail account....

6) Now click on Continue.

7) Now enter the following information:

Name: Name of the account

E-mail address: Your e-mail address

Password: The e-mail password you have entered

8) Then click on Log in.

9) Enter further information in the next window:

Username: Your e-mail address again

Password: The e-mail password you have assigned

Account type: IMAP (in this example)

Server in cloud hosting

In Cloud Hosting, use the domain name of your email address for the incoming and outgoing mail server (example: vorname.nachname@beispielwebseite.de => DOMAINNAME = examplewebsite.com).

Server in Classic Hosting

Server for incoming e-mails: sslin.de
Server for outgoing e-mails: sslout.de

10) Then click on Log in

Note: You can ignore the message Account name/password could not be verified.

11) Now click on Done. You can leave the two items Mail and Notes activated.

12) The account has been created. You can view the folder management under the Mailbox behavior tab. As a rule, you do not need to change any settings here.

13) Now switch to the Server settings tab. You will need to make a few adjustments there:

Uncheck Manage connection settings automatically under Incoming e-mail server and enter 993 for Port.

Deactivate the checkbox Manage connection settings automatically under Outgoing e-mail server and enter 465 for Port.

14) Under Incoming e-mail server, click on Advanced IMAP settings.

15) For IMAP path prefix, delete INBOX from the field and then click OK.

16) Back in the Server settings tab, click Save at the bottom right.
