Ongoing commitment against poverty: jweiland.net supports Caritas campaign
This year, we once again took part in the "Running against poverty" campaign. A total of 10 runners started in our name at the Eßlinger Zeitung Lauf.
While last year there were only 'guest runners' with our logo, this year we were able to motivate employees, their families and friendly companies to take part in the <link ezl.esslinger-zeitung.de - external-link-new-window "Homepage Esslinger Zeitung Lauf">16th EZ Lauf.
For each of our runners, 100 euros were donated to the "Running against poverty" campaign. 100% of the proceeds go towards supporting sports for children in poor families. Last year, the <link www.esslinger-zeitung.de/lokal/lokalsport/esslinger_zeitung_lauf/Artikel1245086.cfm - external-link-new-window "Bericht in der Eßlinger Zeitung über die Aktion "Laufend gegen Armut"">campaign raised over 10,000 euros for the first time.
Due to tropical temperatures of 38 degrees, the organizers reduced the running distance from 10 to 7.5 km. Given the temperatures, the participants were already sweating profusely before the start.
The route ran three times on a circuit through Esslingen's old town, mostly on cobblestones. Two climbs were an additional challenge for the participants. Despite all the adversities, 9 of our runners managed to complete the course - only the boss concentrated on taking photos after a few kilometers.
The atmosphere was great and both participants and spectators enjoyed themselves. The non-alcoholic Erdinger after the exertions tasted twice as good!
